Ben's Blog
Dear reader,
My name is Ben. I am nineteen and I have
Asperger’s Syndrome. I am a freshman in college and I plan to be a Psychology
major. I am interested in music, sports, and social sciences. This blog is
about how I have learned to cope and adapt to the difficulties in my life. For
example, when I play my bass guitar I can become unfocused, I will take a short
break from practicing and resume playing in five minutes. I have time
management issues, so I do homework for twenty straight minutes and then I take
a five minute break. After, I repeat this cycle three times I will take a
thirty minute break. My homework routine is not only easy to maintain with a
timer, but it also allows me to work harder, faster, and better on school work.
My goal is for this blog to allow parents and professionals to see what it is
like to function with a learning disability. I hope that the readers of these
blogs will have a better understanding of life with a learning disability. I am
trying to grow more independent and I want you to see what I am doing. I want
to model for people the coping strategies I use to reach my goals of graduating
college, getting a full-time job, and becoming independent in the end. My
weekly blogs will talk about important issues to me on a variety of topics that
will help you see the world through my eyes.
Sincerely,
Ben

Nice job Ben. I look forward to your next blog entries.
